Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy on education is teaching is like a hobby. All students have a hobby. Students may, play a sport, play and instrument, or collect something and they love to learn about their area of interest. Students are more interested when they are learning about something they enjoy.  As a teacher, it’s important to create fun and interactive lesson plans so that your students love to learn in school like they love to learn about their hobby. Recently I read The Genius in All of Us by David Shenk. The book was about how anyone can achieve greatness but in order to achieve greatness, you have to go through a process. My favorite quote from this book reevaluates what I think makes a great teacher and student, “With humility, with hope, and with extraordinary determination, greatness is something to which any kid- of any age- can aspire.”  This quote inspires me to take the opportunities I have been given, through the CAPS Teacher Education Program, seriously and to my best advantage.
