Ms. Gruwell is a student teacher in a classroom with students that are involved in gangs and have criminal backgrounds. She used a wide variety of techniques of teaching to get her students involved. She inspired her students to do things they never imagined they could accomplish.

My thoughts: Teach With Your Heart is one of my favorite books. Its an inspirational story about how a student teacher changes her students academically and personally. She also deals with a lot of racial and gang issues. As a future educator, this book taught me that teaching is going to be a frustrating profession but it's always going to be worth it. It taught me teaching strategies like always have a back up lesson plan, sometimes things don't always work.
